On March 31st we said goodbye to the sweet country of Guatemala and landed in Costa Rica. I would be lying if I said the transition has been smooth. Between the mosquitoes, the bat that sometimes likes to live in the bathroom, and getting a stomach bug, it was a bit of a rough and tumble time getting settled here. How could I choose to see this place as home? I could accept that God wanted me here, and believed that he had good in store. But to welcome my surroundings as a place of rest when I was surrounded by so much discomfort seemed impossible.

God has been using this time to teach me that I can make a home when I’m uncomfortable as long as I find my home in Him. It’s easy for me to look to the things of this world to mark a place as home. But only God can provide a true feeling of refuge and rest, because He is where our true home is and will be when our time is over on this earth.

Ministry in Costa Rica has looked different than in Guatemala, the whole squad is usually together and we do a lot of manual labor, youth ministries, and church services. This part of the race is the Empowerment Phase with our leadership and personal spiritual growth, but our ministries have push our squad into even more empowerment. We are often in charge of coming up with the structure of our programs and doing the messages and teachings ourselves. This has been really cool to see my squad step into.

Please pray for our health, many of us have gotten a stomach bug and there have been some other sickness or injuries. Also please pray for our boldness and confidence. Thank you so much!
